2024 October Meeting

Members shared many of the projects that have been completed over the past few months. 

FOCUS TABLE - THE SEWING TABLE🧵🪡

This month, Denise gave an overview of some of the items that the sewing group produce. Breast pillows, cancer hats, treatment bags 18" x 18", hospital gowns mainly for palliative care patients, clothing protectors, breast drainage bags, and nikky pump bags. All patterns can be found in the FREE PATTERN section on the blog. 

Every month the sewing table provides valuable items to support people undergoing treatments in hospital and to make daily life better for those in palliative care. 

Breast pillows

Cancer hats put a smile on your face.

Treatment bags 18"x 18", useful for carrying xrays etc.

Hospital gowns, mainly for palliative care patients.

Clothing protectors for eating.

 Nikky pump bags.

Sunshine Linus is making many spaces more homely.

All patterns are available either digitally on the blog or in a folder at Linus. When you take a pattern from the folder please remember to replace it on your next visit.

RAFFLE: 🎟️ The raffle was won by Lesley who took the handy bag made by Elaine, Jennifer won the Spotlight voucher and the rug was won by Marilyn B.

THE SALES TABLE:  will be full of goodies ready for our last meeting of the year on November 18.

SHOW and TELL  

Clair showed a decorative Jungle scene for nursing home. Lots of quilts were shown including:-  

Quilts quilted by Judi  included one with a Green border , a Maroon 4 patch, a Pink and blue log cabin, a Log cabin crazy quilt and a Kids quilt with beige border.

Marion showcased items made by the Baby group. 

* Angel packs

* Baby packs that comprise a small quilt 1m x 1m, jacket, bootees, hat and knitted toy. 

  

 The 'Guard of Honour' quilt.

The quilt pictured below on the phone was made for Bellflower Retirement Village. It will  used to cover coffin of former residents and used in a 'Guard of Honour'. 

The quilt was a group effort by Kaye (pieced the quilt), Glorianne (custom quilted) and Christine (binding). The ‘Guard of Honor’ quilt for Grevillea Gardens Gympie Blue Care is now complete and Barbara Moore will deliver it.

SUNSHINE LINUS RETREAT🧵🪡🏝️

The retreat is on 25th - 28th November, places are still available. Please contact Denise H or Barbara M immediately if you would like to join us. Cost is $85, money due now.

CHRISTMAS MEETING - 18 NOVEMBER 🎄

Bring a small savoury or sweet plate that does not require heating to share.  

Thank you once again Linda for agreeing to share your wonderful poem on the blog. You are right, there is something for everyone at Sunshine Linus. Ed 👏

The Touchy Feely Tragic

One day I went to a large girls meeting

No …. That’s not to do with their seating

No…. there were so many there

Showing off their work so fair

There was crochet and some knitting

I thought mine would be quite fitting

Oh …. I could learn to crochet too

Time to start on something new

Went to classes all agog

Soon had the teacher in a fog

She tried to teach me chains and doubles, then to add to all her troubles

I slipped my drop stitch and so she said, I think it’s best you go

Aw…. back to Linus just to see if there was something there for me

Patchwork …. they do it with ease, I thought this’ll be a breeze

They said we’ve got a job or for you, cut these 6-inch squares in two

Hope you have a ¼ inch foot asked Kaye, no I take size 9 to my dismay

I measured once and cut them twice and though they were very nice

They said I wasn’t able, and they showed me to the touchy feely table

I can tell you I’m now in heaven, cut one side nine and the other seven

No-one cares if seams ‘bout face – just cover with a bit of lace

Add a zipper and Velcro magic ✨

That’s how I became a Touchy Feely Tragic.
