June 30 2014 gathering

Happy Birthday to us!  Nicky made us this great mud cake with the Sunshine Linus logo and other sewing items.

Our youngest and oldest members, Allie and Olwyn, had the
honour of cutting the cake

Not all of us, but a happy bunch celebrating our fourth Birthday.
We had several visitors this month. Kylie from Equity Works spoke about the organisations that they support.  Michelle from IFYS thanked for donations they received at last month's meeting.

The Thursday Island Quilters from Bribie Island had been making things for the SCOPE quilt project.  We were delighted to receive their quilts and toys.  We hope they can make use of our resources and we will be pleased to see them again at Sunshine Linus.

Once again it was a busy day.  Here are some of the items from Show & Tell.

Denise used old fabrics from her stash
to make this boy's quilt

Amazing what you can do with scraps!

Claire's sensory wall hanging for a nursing home
The brief was to make a series of hangings for a balustrade in a nursing home.  This is the first.  The nursing home is near the Point Cartwright lighthouse.

A special school requested a quilt to support the book "From the Forest to the Sea".  Kids can experience the story while touching the fabrics in the quilt.  Can you see the pipe cleaner spider?

Balloon ball covers

Jan B made these wheel chair quilts

Memory bags for parents of still borns

Claire & Allie at the distribution table

Myra, Rose & Shirley distributing lots of quilts

Hope to see you all at our next gathering on the 28th of July.
