This month's meeting was a busy one as it has been six weeks since the previous distribution meeting. This meant Sunshine Linus members and friends had additional time to make lots of items and it wasn't long before the tables were overflowing with donations.
The new format allowed members to stay for an hour and meant there was extra time to drop off items, look for supplies and catch up with friends.
Rita arrives with a bag of crafted goodies. |
Elaine had the 'sales table' looking splendid and there were quite a few bargains to be found.
Of course with the cooler months upon us there were lots of lovely knitted and crocheted rugs to show.
Lesley amongst an overflow of items. |
Lorraine has been sewing up a storm with these very pretty little girls' dresses.
Lorraine also found time to make this cute, crocheted child's carry bag.
Joy from Caboolture made these fabulous, mini Tic Tac Toe sets. They even have a pocket inside to store the bottle tops!
Margaret couldn't resist making a soft toy or two or three! Aren't they adorable?
The Sewing team have also kept themselves busy sewing turbans (for cancer patients) and seatbelt protectors and eye masks.
Once again a big thank you from Sunshine Linus to Faye and the Bribie Island ladies for their generous donations.
There were lots of 'oohs' and 'aahs' when Claire showed her latest project: a 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' interactive, book quilt! It even came with a 'Teacher's Guide'. It is destined for the children at Nambour Special School.
During the course of the morning Robyn, Chris and Jennifer made time to sit and finish threading the drawstring bags that were made during Activity Day. And of course this was a great opportunity to have a cuppa and a chat!
Of course there were lot of lovely quilts to show:
This eye-catching stained glass quilt was a joint effort by Sharon and Kaye.
Jill found the pattern for this clever Irish Chain quilt on Pinterest. |
Orawin discovered a stack of already made 'half-square-triangles' on the 'freebie table'. Of course her motto with all her scrap quilts is 'There are possibilities'. With Orawin there certainly are!

This stunning hexagon quilt top was made by a friend of Leonie. Leonie did the quilting and binding.
...and one more lovely quilt...
The lucky winner of the raffled bag was Denise! Yes again! Two wins in a row Denise, how lucky!
- The next meeting will be an Activity Day on Monday 14th June. There will be opportunity to make hospital gowns, tactile mats and take part in some fabric-cutting for quilt making.
- No more beanies or turbans are required at this stage. Please store them for future use.
- Sunshine Linus will have a static display at the Nambour Show. Remember to check it out if you attend.
