Monday, 22nd November

Another year has passed for Sunshine Linus under pandemic conditions, maybe 2022 will see things returning to 'normal' meeting practices.  Our final meeting was held one week earlier this year as the date clashed with our first retreat for Sunshine Linus which will be held at Bribie Island.

A gorgeous present was given to each member as they entered the meeting.

Once again the 'sales table' had an assortment of goodies displayed ready for purchase.

November Activity Day

Twelve ladies attended the last Activity Day for 2021. It was a very relaxed gathering with everyone wanting to 'catch up' with each other before getting down to the serious stuff of creating and making.

Dawn, Marion and Kaye set up for the gathering

Time for a 'catch up'

Dawn had her sewing tools ready to start assembling some of the lovely children's hospital gowns she had precut. Children's printed sheets and 'doona' covers are perfect with their big, bold prints.

Linda and Dawn have also been hard at work creating these stunning 'touchy feelie' tablecloths for the Sundale Retirement Village at Coolum.

A very cute detail on one of the tablecloths

Of course some of the ladies had their priorities right and decided some morning tea was required before getting started!

There is always a delicious morning tea provided

Marion and Bridget spent some time trying to solve some over-locker issues, but to no avail...looks as though we need to call the sewing machine mechanic!

Pam and Yvonne peruse some to the donated fabric to see if there is anything suitable for their chosen crafts.

Dawn is never one to just work on one task! She also brought some of her hospital drainage bags to finish assembling.

Dawn puts the finishing touches to one of the bags.

Jenny spent some time explaining how to assemble the hospital eye-masks. They are specifically designed for stroke patients who have developed paralysis on one side of their face.

Jenny models one of the eye-patches.

And voila! There were eye-masks!

Reminder:

Sunshine Linus' final Restricted Distribution Meeting for 2021 is next Monday! Make sure you book a timeslot with Judie B as it will be your last opportunity to drop off items and pick up supplies!

Reminder re Activity Day

Hello everyone, just a reminder that the last Sunshine Linus Activity Day for this year is scheduled for this coming Monday - 15th November

Those attending will have to check in with the Qld Check-in  app in addition to our usual signing in. If you can't use the Check-in app, let one of the committee members know so we can do it for you.

As attendance numbers are restricted please book with Judie B as soon as possible!

The following activities are planned:
  • Eye Patches - They are for stroke patients. The pattern, materials and made-up samples will be available. They are a bit fiddly but not difficult to sew. The hardest part is putting binding around the patch (we use stretch fabric binding as it is softer).
  • Adolescent Hospital Gowns - The standard adult gowns are too big. Val and Lisa have developed patterns for smaller ones.
  • Cleanup of cupboards/storage areas - so everything is tidy over the Christmas/New Year break.
Hope to see you there!
