Monday 28th March

It was fantastic that 52 members of Sunshine Linus were finally able to meet again as a whole group on Monday, especially as it was the Annual General Meeting. Some of the furniture did have to be rearranged to accommodate the extra members but all worked well.

A big thank you to Thelma for overseeing the proceedings.

Despite the injuries to both her wrists Marion was still able to record the minutes of the meeting!

Of course we were all very pleased that Kaye was re-elected as President.

Another thank you to Jenny and Jill for counting the nomination forms.

The lucky raffle winners this month were Glorianne, Dawn, Wendy and Betty. Thankyou again to the donors for the wonderful prizes!

There was even an opportunity for some 'show and tell'. The members and friends of Sunshine Linus never cease to amaze us with their beautiful creations.
Lots of quilts to show this time around. Anne showed two stunning quilts she had assembled using the QAYG method and strip-piecing method.

Sharon is also a master of the QAYG method. Her two amazing quilts were assembled using a collection of 'orphan' blocks found on the 'freebie table'.

Carole showed her lovely 'Disappearing Nine Patch Quilt' which was started at the Retreat.

Faye made this sweet 'Wedding Ring' quilt.

Judie B has been perfecting her machine quilting skills on this gorgeous ' Lone Star' quilt. She also used some the donated Spotlight fabric for backing.

Some of the other quilts on display included these beauties:

There were lots of other lovely creations to see on the distribution tables.

Carole made these 'dignity scarves' at Activity Day.

Narelle from Toowoomba arrived with a very large donation from the Toowoomba Women's Shed which included fiddle muffs, toweling pillow cases, children's clothing and drainage bags. Thankyou Narelle.

Claire arrived with three wonderful creations including several 'Counting Fingers' mats destined for Nambour Special School, a 'Tiddalik the Frog' interactive quilt destined for Currimundi Special School and 'Mr Gumpy's Outing' quilt. It features a whole range of creatures who want to board a river boat. Once they board the boat they begin to misbehave and as a result the boat capsizes!

After the AGM it was business as usual with members having the opportunity to drop off donations and replenish supplies.

Once again Elaine had the sales table looking gorgeous.

And then it was time for 'distribution' with the layout being changed a little to accommodate the extra people.

Thank you again to all who attended. A reminder that there will be no meeting in April due to the Anzac Day holiday but we will resume meeting on 9th May for Activity Day. Stay tuned for further information.

Hope to see you at Activity Day!

March Activity Day

We had 14 keen ladies attending our first Activity Day for 2022, including 2 new ladies attending for the first time who decided to join Sunshine Linus on the day.

The activity for the day was to produce 'dignity clothing protectors' for nursing home residents. These are cotton on one side and either terry towelling or flannelette on the other.  Jenny and Barbara gave their nod of approval for the new design.

Jenny and Pam organising the cutting area.

Kaye and Sharon also busy getting ready to demonstrate the assembly process.

Lots of concentration for the job at hand.

A well earned break for morning tea and a catch up with friends.

At the end of the day we had completed 13 protectors and cut out 20 more protectors which were taken home to be completed.
