Monday 26th September: Distribution Day

It's always very encouraging to hear the hum of voices and activity as the members and friends of Sunshine Linus come together for the Distribution meeting each month and this month was no exception. There is always plenty to do!

Sunshine Linus Vice President Sharon prepares the labels for the distribution bags ahead of time.

Two lovely items have been donated for the raffle during the months of September and October so remember to purchase your tickets from Val. The quilt was made by Anne C and the crochet rug by one of our new members Jan D!

The sales table was brimming with beautiful items once again with thanks to all the makers and Elaine.

Of course, the tables were laden with a range of beautifully knitted, crocheted and sewn items.

Fingerless gloves

What a cutie!

Lots of tactile items

Clothing

Bags of varying sizes

Claire made four large bags for 'Turtlecare'. They will be used to carry a very large fiberglass turtle (1.25m), nesting box and turtle shells to presentations. What fun!

The members who provided morning tea had created some delicious delicacies to tempt our taste buds!

Kaye was back from her travels, to oversee the formal proceedings.

The quilts shown during 'Show and Tell' were as gorgeous as ever. Janet from Toowoomba donated these two colorful quilts and included two quilt bags to match!

One of Yvonne's many bright and cheery row quilts:

Annie's gorgeous batik, pinwheel quilt:

Jenny H showed her spectacular tumbling blocks quilt that she thought might be suitable for a man because of its black and white color palette.

Anne C showed two bright and colorful quilts. The first quilt had beautiful embroidery in the diamond blocks.

Glorianne showed her 'Feathers' quilt first started back at the retreat last year but finally finished!

Thelma brought in this amazing quilt some weeks back. Bev Y hand-pieced and hand-appliqued the entire quilt! Some of the purists amongst us will appreciate the amount of work involved.

A close-up of the piecing and applique

Jill had made this fabulous 'Oh My Stars' quilt with its lovely blue hues.

Another pretty donated quilt

And now for some reminders:
  • If you are attending the retreat November 28th - December 1st, please pay your $85 as soon as possible. An information form can be found here. The Health Care form can be found here.
  • Our next meeting will be an Activity Day on October 10th. Please come along for some good company and a chance to do a bit of a clean-up on the fabric boxes which will involve ironing and cutting of fabric into usable dimensions.
  • Remember to check the 'wish lists' and 'what's in storage' pages when they are posted.
  • Keep making those items for Open Day next year. A date will be announced next month.
Hope to see you again soon!
