Well everyone agreed that Sunshine Linus Open Day 2019
was a great success with an estimated 400+ people attending. The Sunshine
Coast also lived up to its name by providing perfect weather for the occasion!
Of course the success of the day was the result of a
wonderful team effort by Sunshine Linus members and friends. It took many
hours of planning and setting up prior to Open Day to ensure everything was in
place and ready for the big occasion. A big thank you to everyone who arrived
on Friday to help set up and thank you to Ian for providing the quilt stands so
the quilts could be placed on display in the church and hall!
Mark and John take a much needed break
after helping to carry and set up the dozens of quilt stands.
On the day the entrance team were set
up and ready, waiting for everyone to arrive. From the left: Anne, Faye, Carole
and Glorianne.

The sales tables were 'jam-packed' with a range of
stunning items to tempt all ages.
Jan, Kaye and Sue were looking incredibly relaxed
prior to the day beginning.
Lyn and Yvonne were ready to talk to anyone interested in joining Sunshine Linus.
A big thank you to Dee for ensuring we were served a cuppa and some scones throughout the day!
Each team had organised a wonderful display to showcase what
they make:
Jan and Sharon were on hand to answer any questions about what the 'Baby Team' makes.
The sensory team made sure their 'sensory' table was looking gorgeous.
Janet was ready to answer questions regarding the work of the 'Knitting and Crochet' team.
Denise had everything organised for the 'Sewing Team's' display.
There was also a display of Claire's story book quilts.
It didn't take long for the hall and church to fill up with visitors.
Of course a big thank you to our vendors for supporting
Sunshine Linus and providing lots of goodies to be purchased.
Penny at The Patchwork Angel stall.
Margaret at the Maleny Magic Patchwork and Quilts stall.
Robyn at the Bowerbirdy stall.
Kim at her 'Kimz' stall.
Eliza and Marita at the Sewing Mill stall.
Lynda at the Crochet Australia stall.
Thank you too to Marion and Ralph for overseeing the
collection and tallying of money on the day.
There was only one sad event during the day and that was the Bribie Island Quilter's bus breaking down! A small group of them were able to convince a husband to drive them to Nambour, so not all was lost!
At the end of the day Kaye conducted the draw of the raffle
prizes.
And the lucky winners were:
Marie from Nambour won the Noah’s Ark quilt…..
One of our members
Dawn won the Paris quilt.
Wendy from Noosa won the baby doll and Marjorie (who was
holidaying at the Mudjimba Caravan Park and had travelled all the way from
Ballarat) won the baby wrap! Congratulations ladies!
