Annual General Meeting - Monday 25th March

If this year’s AGM had a theme, it would be one of gratitude.  Our President, Sharon began the meeting welcoming everyone and praising the valuable work carried out by our 84 members in what was a very busy year.

Each year, Sunshine Linus strives to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients. This year we responded to an increasingly diverse range of requests and produced high quality items to meet the increased demand from clients. Judy B advised that in 2023/24, Sunshine Linus distributed over 10,000 items to communities on the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

Some of our members at the AGM.

We say thank you to Jenny D and Denise who manage requests and organise distribution.
Thank you also to members who each month help put the items into bags ready for distribution.

The AGM provided a great opportunity again thanks to members who work to make Sunshine Linus the dynamic and supportive organization that it is.

Sunshine Linus is thankful for support from across the Sunshine Coast community.

Thank you also to everyone who quietly get on and make Sunshine Linus the dynamic and valuable organisation it is today.

NEWS FROM THE TABLES

SALES TABLE

This month the table abounded with pillowcases, silk coat hangers, potholders, small tote and laundry bags, scalloped place mats and microwave bowl holders. Fresh produce included onion jam, plants, limes, and plenty of pumpkin bought in by Leonie.

The Quilters Choice sewing machine and accessories is still available. The machine has never been used and all proceeds from the sale will go to Sunshine Linus. Thank you again to Elaine for looking after the sales table.

Get in early next meeting as these terrific items tend to disappear quickly.

 FREEBIE TABLE

The Freebie table received lots of donations again this month including some very interesting items including a beautiful timber cotton reel holder with draws.

What a lovely surprise!
TOUCHY FEELY TABLE
A request was received from a new client in Brisbane. ‘Open Futures’ provides residential disability care in Brisbane.

Claire made the items below in the requested dark blue, dark green and purple colours. She made touchy feely pillow cases, grab balls and one of the largest items ever made by Claire a 2m x 3m sensory wall hanging. The project had no hanging pieces and used an amazing range of sensory fabrics including velour, plastic, fur, sequins, flannelette and velvet.

What a great way to use up scraps.

MORNING TEA

A big thank you to Bonnie and Leonie for providing delicious food and a constant stream of tea and coffee to sustain us.

Conversations with friends new and old is a big part of Linus.

SEWING. KNITTING AND BABY TABLES

This is the engine room from where items are gathered for distribution. It’s well worth a look on the pages section of the blog to see which items are required in the wish list and distribution lists each month.  This information is also emailed very month to members.

A gift for a new mum.
