Monday 28th October

The months seem to be slipping by at a furious rate and Sunshine Linus has one final meeting for 2019 which will be the Christmas Break-up on Monday 25^th November. This meeting will begin at 9:30am and will include a regular meeting with show and tell and distribution. This will be followed by a ‘tidy up’ and emptying of cupboards (new carpet is to be laid in the hall during the holiday period). We will then set up for the Christmas party. The Christmas party will include lots of good food, activities/games and lucky door prizes, so please come and join us!

A reminder that each team has been asked to decorate their table and provide nibbles and an activity/game for all to participate.

Many of our members travel quite a distance each month to attend the meetings. Melva and Daphne travel up from Brisbane. Joy was assisting them to stitch labels onto the back of the quilts.

Judie was first up for ‘Show and Tell’ this month. Judie showed a selection of quilts she has quilted. A number of these were larger quilts that she had cut down into two smaller quilts. These smaller quilts are ideal as smaller coverings for residents in aged care facilities and patients in hospital.

The ‘Sewing Team’ showed a very practical and smart overnight bag and a breast drainage bag.

The ‘Sensory Team’ showed another of their fascinating ‘touchy feely’ cubes.

The ‘Baby Team’ showed this beautiful still-born baby sack made by Bridgette. She had re-purposed fabric and lace from a wedding dress train! The ‘Baby Team’ also showed a pretty pastel colored rug.

Even though Claire wasn't at the meeting this month she still managed to complete another cute, story book quilt for Currimundi Special School. The quilt was based on the much loved story, 'Who Sank The Boat?' by Pamela Allen.

A big thankyou to Bonnie and Leonie for keeping the storage area downstairs beautifully organised and managed!

Another big thankyou to Leona and Delwyn, from Brisbane North. These ladies have donated many items to Sunshine Linus over the years.  Their latest donations include:

·         Fabric memory games and noughts and crosses for activity bags 

·         Knitted baby items

·         Wheelie Walker bags

·         Children’s back packs to be used as activity bags kept at Police stations

·         Many quilts tops and wheelchair quilt tops

·         A large number and sizes of children’s short pyjama bottoms

·         A large batch of sensory squares
