October Action Day

Twenty-one ladies attended Sunshine Linus Action Day this month and of course the first 'course of action' was to have a cuppa and a chat!

Liz's jazzy shoes caused quite a bit of comment!

The aim of today's meeting was to learn how to make 'blockenspiels'. These tricky little gadgets are highly sought after by aged care facilities for their dementia patients.

Lyn P was our instructor for the morning and she came equipped with pre-cut fabric packs for each person. After an explanation and demonstration we all set to work.

It wasn't long before we all gained a new appreciation for the ladies who make these items on a regular basis!

Dawn showed she was an experienced hand at making blockenspiels and lent help where needed.

Of course the mischievous one among us had fun creating images of mutant beings on her blocks!

Marion and Lisa spent the morning sorting and packing Christmas bags and activity bags. They have issued a request for small pencils cases or pouches to hold the coloured pencils.

Kaye spent the morning cutting and sewing carry bags for quilts, which she plans to take to the Gympie Rotary Quilt and Craft Spectacular on the weekend of the 3rd/4th of November.

By the end of the morning most of the ladies had pinned their blocks ready for stitching.

Hopefully we will see a collection of completed blockenspiels next meeting!

Happy stitching everyone!
