May 2016

After a 6 week break due to Public Holidays, May's gathering brought many donations, such that the centre tables were groaning under the weight.
Ian from Woombye Bendigo Bank paid us an early visit to present President Kaye with a cheque for $500 as part of the Bank's Community Support program.

We were also visited by Adam from Maroochydore State High School who coordinates a program for students who need special assistance at the school.

Some 20 quilts had been left at Patchwork Angel for Linus, many finished and ready to be distributed.

Sunshine Linus members are skilled at using small scraps to make stunning quilts. Below are some made by Orrawin- cheeky cats and a reverse made of small squares found on the donations table

Sandra displayed  an elegant quilt constructed of 12 embroidered blocks, each done by a different person as well as several quilts suitable for males.

Anne 's Houses and Sun Bonnet Sue quilts will delight little girls.

Two nature themed quilts featured native animals backgrounded by strips which reflect the colours of the Australian landscape.

A few courageous souls had persevered with their Blockenspeils, a technique taught by Kaye at the mid-May special day. Meanwhile, Claire's creativity had been directed to two balls, one fabric and one crocheted plus a Skills book for adults. These items are used by Able Care.

The next meeting will be on Monday, 27th June where Sunshine Linus will celebrate its 6th Birthday.

** Please do  not leave donations of fabric and other goods outside the Uniting Church Hall.  If you wish to donate, but cannot deliver your donations on that date, please contact us with a message on the blog.
