March Activity Day
Tuesday, March 1, 2022
Monday 28th February
It was so fantastic that the Sunshine Linus members were able to meet up again after such a long break. Of course it was sad that a number of our members were unable to join us because of the recent flood conditions. All going well we are planning for an almost 'back to normal' meeting at the end of March.
The day began very early with the ladies (and husbands) arriving to assist with the 'set up'. There was a very large donation of fabrics and notions this month so a big thank you to both Sue V and Margaret for all their hard work getting the 'Freebie table' sorted!
Of course our regular greeting and registration team were in place ready to check-in members as they arrived.
Elaine had the sales table prepped ready for purchases.

Sharon was overseeing the ticket sales for the raffle prizes which included a delightful handmade notebook, pretty patchwork cushion, colorful textured quilt and a packet of drawer liners.
Kaye's donated quilt had quite a history with a label on the back to prove its long term completion!
Both the sales table and raffle provide a steady income for Sunshine Linus each month so a big thank you to both Elaine and Kaye for their efforts organising these tables each month!
The number of donations was massive this month because we all had an extra month to make and create.
Dorothy arrived with a selection of soft toys including these little cuties made from a candlewick bedspread she had found in the fabric boxes at the last meeting.

Gabrielle's group of crafty ladies excelled themselves again donating several bags of beautifully knitted dolls.

Lorraine showed one of the many gorgeous crocheted rugs and crocheted shawls she had made. Her daughter crochets the squares and Lorraine then assembles them into shawls.
Brigitte found this gorgeous crocheted cotton rug among the pile of items on the 'Yarners' table.
Linda arrived with lots of items including a number of 'touchy feely' mats. Linda is always creating new ideas for the attached 'doodads'.
Of course piles of quilts arrived for donation again. Jenny H showed her completed efforts from the Sunshine Linus Retreat back in November 2021. They include a 'Disappearing 4 Patch', a quilt that was the result of Barbara's workshops on flying geese and a jelly roll quilt.
Daphne sewed a wonderful indigenous-themed quilt from blocks she had found on the 'freebie table'.

Claire has continued creating her fabulous 'special order' items for schools on the Sunshine Coast. The Little Red Hen quilt went to Currimundi Special School.
Sunshine Linus was pleased to welcome two visitors this month. Nikki and Karina were visiting from St Vincent's Care Maroochydore. They came to say 'thank you' for the many items they have received from Sunshine Linus in the past but also to take a look at what we do and make. They were amazed at the range and quality of items the members of Sunshine Linus create!

And then it was Distribution time. Thank you to all the ladies who work tirelessly to assist with the distribution each month!

First Meeting for 2022 Is Going Ahead!
Hi Everyone, for those of you who haven't heard the February meeting will go ahead as planned on Monday 28th February. We will still be operating under restricted conditions this first meeting so remember to book your timeslot with Judie B, wear a mask, bring your coffee cup and gold coin donation. This will be the first chance this year to drop off your donated items and restock on much needed supplies so don't miss this opportunity!
For those of you who would like to renew your annual membership, a reminder that the registration and membership fee is due. A membership form for 2022 should be completed and forwarded to Sharon H, our Membership Secretary, at sunshinelinus@gmail.com or brought to our first meeting on Monday. 1st February 2022
Hi Everyone, hope you are keeping well and busy. Of course we can't wait until we are all able to meet again and hopefully that will be at the end of this month on Monday 28th February. In the meantime thought you might like to know about something that has been happening behind the scenes.
Last Friday Jenny D delivered a bounty of items for the Remote Nurses to Sue Thompson and met Ponee, the nurse she liaises with. The attached photo shows most of the items that were donated. As you can see members and friends went above and beyond to make suitable items!
