It was a case of ‘many hands make light work’ at Activity
Day this month as the Sunshine Linus members set about preparing for their
biennial Open Day which is to be held on Saturday 17th August
(9:30am-2:30pm). There will be a display of Sunshine Linus quilts and specialty items, sales tables, local vendors, raffles and morning tea! Entry
is $5.
At today's meeting, Kaye started the proceedings with instructions regarding
what needed to be done and then everyone set to work!
Gabrielle and her helpers set about sorting and pricing the
many donated items for the sales tables.
A huge range of beautifully hand-crafted items will be
available on the day so make sure you arrive early so you don’t miss out!
It didn’t take long for the quilting ladies to sort the
quilts and start attaching rod pocket loops for display.
On Open Day each team will present a display of their work.
The Baby Team are ready to set up their display with this wonderful quilt that
showcases some of the gorgeous items they make.
There will be a number of items raffled on the day including
this beautiful baby doll which has been retouched by Judith.
Other happenings this past month include a number of our
Sunshine Linus members attending afternoon tea at Regis Lakeside, ……and what an
afternoon tea – one to make your eyes water and your tummy rumble!
Janet had a very interesting conversation with the business
development manager for Qld and NSW, Ben Hopgood. He spoke in glowing
terms about the wonderful sensory items sent from Sunshine Linus and how he had
personally encountered residents who had improved cognitively after using them. Well
done Linda and the sensory team! The Facility manager Kirsty Warburton, was also
very thrilled about items received from Linus.
Just a reminder that our next meeting is Monday 29th
July. Don’t forget to check this month’s wish lists for items that are needed.
See you soon!
