Lyn and Jan brought in some of the 120 Christmas bags they have assembled for needy children
then proceeded to man the special bring and buy where some great Christmas gifts were to be had at bargain prices.
The distribution table sported children's gifts such as these "love me"elephants and the cluster of bright fellows below, alongside colourful fabric balls.
Claire has ventured into a new space with her lycra Silly Sack modelled by Nicki, some more weighted dogs and new worry pets - soft, furry, hand sized, and filled with poly beads these can be squeezed to relieve tension.
Often blocks are found on the "freebies" table and two quilts today were the results of those finds:
A colourful small quilt by Liz,
Individual quilts included this king size machine embroidered quilt donated by Raylene Shepherd.
Member's quilts included Black Cats in the Moonlight by Sandra,
appliqued flowers masterfully executed by Anne, Bev's use of small pieces to effect,
Dorothy's tractor quilt for a boy,
Lyn P's Colours of Australia strip quilt,
and Barb's strip quilt and unusual colour combination of 9 inch blocks.
The September blog included some paper pieced blocks sent to us from Chinchilla which Orrawin has turned into her special masterpieces
Leonie brought a large star quilt that needed binding.
President Kaye arrived plus husband and trailer to carry all the goods she had accumulated and continues to quilt up to 20 quilts a month which are then completed by others, including these simple designs and a colourful panel.
Special needs have not been forgotten- Felicity displayed a fabric bowl for use in the microwave- placing the plate inside the bowl makes it easier to remove the hot food safely
and Dawn had made several breast cancer cushions and some touchy feelie cubes.
A weighted blanket by Barb
and a sensory wall hanging from Crazy Quilters indicate the variety today.
A surprise arrival were two denim bags made by Beanie from Trash to Treasure at Pomona intended for pre-teens, possible those going into foster care.
Each of these bags sported hidden pockets with small hand-made treasures tucked inside.
A wonderful conclusion to a great display of the talent and generosity of the members and friends of Sunshine Linus during 2016.
Our next meeting will be held on 30 January 2017.
